Christopher Calderhead graduated from Princeton with a bachelor’s degree in Art History. His early interest in the English Arts and Crafts movement and formal pen lettering led him to the Roehampton Institute in London, where he trained under Ann Camp. He earned a certificate with Merit in Calligraphy and Bookbinding. In 1988, he was elected to Fellowship in the English Society of Scribes and Illuminators.

Returning to New York, he opened a studio, where he produced formal manuscript books and commercial lettering and design.

In 1998, he obtained a Master of Divinity degree from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary and was ordained to the Episcopal priesthood.

In the last seven years, his art work has moved into the realm of collage, assemblage, and site-specific installation. His work has been exhibited in the United States and Great Britain. He offers workshops in lettering and the arts.

His radio series ‘Looking for Spirituality at Tate Modern,’ was broadcast on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire in 2002. He lives and works in New York City.
